New CD / Cover Art

Posted by admin under UP

You guys have been great! Thanks for voting for your favorite version of the title song, and entering your Analog Brain definitions for the t-shirt contest. Now I’d like to run some cover art by you and get your feedback.

Below is a short evolution of cover ideas. I thought it might be fun for you to see them. We started with some cartoons by my pal Bob Kroeker. I liked all of them in different ways, but they just didn’t seem to quite nail the feeling I was going for. Then I had a goofy idea for a photo cover, so my brother and I spent the day in my landlord’s kitchen taking pictures of yours truly yakking away on his ancient wall phone. (Only my landlord would have one of these phones that still works.)

My designer friend Rebecca Price put it all together in a playful illustration with lots of color.

The question now is where to put my name. So you’ll see three versions with the name in different fonts and places.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments box below.

Thanks!

I like photo 2 – it’s fun and you’re on the cover, plus the big thumb points to your name.

    Hope all is thriving!

    XOXOXOXOXO

  2. Gene Paolini Says:

    cartoon #2

  3. Bill Taylor Says:

I really like cartoon cover 4 (the others seem a bit too frantic for my taste), and photo cover 1, Greg. Looking forward to getting a copy of the album as soon as it is available.

  4. Marie Says:

Greg, these are great!! I agree with you… the cartoons are great, but you talking on the “old fashioned” wall phone really says it all… I can relate all too well. I like your name on the thumb best…

    With Grateful Appreciation,
    Marie

  5. Patricia Rapp Says:

    photo cover #1

  6. Ducky Says:

I love Photo Cover 3 the best…..something about your name on your thumb………

  7. Carol Van Bruggen Says:

Cartoon cover 2 is great. Is so get that.

  8. Mika Says:

A picture says a thousand words… I like the photo cover art with your name on the thumb. It’s a great photo encapsulating the title! Keep up the great work!

  9. Elizabeth Walker Says:

I agree with Bill – cartoon 4 and photo cover 1. I also don’t like the frantic emotion of the other cartoons.

  10. Katherine Says:

While they’re all very clever I think I like photo #1 the best. I wish I were available to attend your concert on Oct. 23. Well, maybe the next time you’re around Sacramento!

    Katherine

  11. Randy Peeler Says:

    Greg,
I laughed when I saw Cartoon #2, and I agree with Marie about Photo Cover #3 (I like your name on the thumb too). It boils down to which way you want to go – cartoon or photo ….. (I’m thinking photo for the cover).

Good luck, and I’m looking forward to seeing you in Richmond on Nov 22.

Thanks so much for your “quirky” and glorious humor,
    Randy

  12. Peter Stoddard Says:

I like photo #1 with your name up there on the screen. Seems more natural to me.

  13. Jeanne Rosenbohm Says:

I like cartoon 1 and photo 1. Dee said she liked photo 2 because the thumb points to your name. I like the thumb pointing to the name also but I see that in 1 not 2.

  14. rhea Says:

i like photo cover 1, with your name in white and in the same type,
all in the picture frame…hangs together best….p.s…part of my resume’
is 20 years as an art director, choosing type….

  15. Heidi Says:

I vote Photo Cover #2 or Cartoon Cover #2

  16. Arlene Petitto Says:

    Hi Greg,

Happy to hear the new CD is upon us. As far as covers go, I love Photo #1. How apropos to be using a dial up telephone…And I do believe there are probably many people who are still using them. Alot less complicated. I just love it!.

Peace and Happy Trails in your travels and so looking forward to the day you return to our mountain haven.

    Ciao mi amico
    Arlene

  17. Ellen Swanson Says:

No question, thumbs up all the way for photo number 3. Thumbs up for Greg Tamblyn!!! That’s what I say, and what the photo says.

Hey, why isn’t Minnesota on your winter tour???? Tee Hee. Miss you. If you would come I would dance some of your songs for you…..The one on Leftovers is really fun to interpret.

    Ellen

  18. Donna McGinness Says:

Hi Greg…I love cartoon cover # 2, but without the “help me” We already know you need help. I also like the first photo cover. Your name up front and center is just right. Can’t wait to hear and see you again. Donna McGinness

  19. CC Says:

I like photo cover #1 with the thumb pointing to your name. It works on many levels. The cartoons are too stark and would not make me choose to buy the CD.
The photo makes me wonder what could be going on with the music since the cover is so out there! Photo cover #3 is my 2nd choice.

  20. mary Says:

I like cartoon #2, because that’s how I feel. The pics are cute, but sorry to say, the cell phone is oldschool, even now. Might have used an iphone or blackberry. But what do I know, I haven’t even figured out how to upload pic or send text messages correctly. :/
Thanks for the laughter :) )

  21. David Ridge Says:

    Photo 1. Blessings Abound

  22. Katherine Says:

Number two with the thumb. It’s a layered joke which is nice.

  23. Nancy Says:

I agree with Bill that the cartoons are a bit frantic. And I like photo #1 with your name on the phone screen.
    Thanks for askin’! Nancy

  24. Mark Schindler Says:

I’m liking photo 2. Put us on the list for the CD release tour!

  25. Donna Says:

I like photo number 3, your name is right there and I see that first! Great job.

  26. Teresa Says:

Photo Cover #3 for sure :)

  27. Luzia Says:

    Hi Greg,
It was good seeing you in Davie, FL on last visit. I affirm all is going well for you.
I like Photo 2. Your name in bold print is more visible. The title is catchy, your name should be remembered! :)
    Peace and blessings,
    Luzia

  28. KJ Says:

    Hi Greg,

As for the cartoons, I like number 3 or 4 better. 1 and 2 are too negative and portrays that it is a negative thing to be an analog minded person in a digital age because I consider myself the best of both worlds…. I still prefer hand written letters over emails… to write and to receive.

As for the photos, I think 2 and 3 are both fine, depending on what look you want to portray on your album. Do you want your name to stand out, than I would choose album 3. Consider what message that you wish to portray to your audience and then go from there. By the way, I appreciate your creativity, Greg and for singing happy birthday to me about ten years ago.

    Spread Authentic Kindness,

    KJ Always (aka “Flower”)
    kjalways@yahoo.com

  29. Di Says:

Photo #2 definitely. Your name is in a font that draws the eye, and the fact that the name is not within the picture lends to a bit of mystery about the guy in the photo. It can be interpreted in more than one way leaving the interpretation to the imagination.

  30. Toogie Says:

Photo # 2 looks great; I also like the thumb pointing at your name. Maybe cartoon #4 could be somewhere inside?
Greg, Don and I hope to see you when you come to Florida.

  31. Keith Says:

Greg, I prefer photo 3. I like not having your name in the photo because the photo is busy enough as it is. Your name on the thumb with the shadow font stands out better than the plain font against the varied background of photo 1. Your name on photo 2 is too reminiscent of a line on a vision chart.

Looking forward to the album, no matter which one you choose!

  32. Patti McClure Says:

    Cartoon #3
    Cover #2
Thank you for the opportunity to vote!

  33. Lisa C. Says:

My vote’s for photo #1. The white letters stand out . It looks like a mini-album cover or a photo caller ID screen that could show up when you call someone. If you’d like to test that out, my number is … just kidding! (sigh)
    Lisa

  34. Michael Potts Says:

Photo #3 for many of the reasons stated by others.

  35. Pat Beagle Says:

Photo #1 with you and the old phone and your name perfect as far as I am concerned. Really looking forward to the new CD.

  36. Carol Hansen Grey Says:

Greg, I like all the photo covers, but I’m partial to #2 because your name stands out big and bold and offers a contrast to the “kid print” on the rest of the cover. Number 1 is my second choice as it does give the impression that the thumb is pointing to your name. I see that most people like #3 with the name on the thumb, but to me that’s the weakest design of all three. Looking forward to getting your new CD when it’s available. Will it have the song to your father on it??

  37. Marjorie Says:

Photo 1, Cartoon 4. I agree with those who preferred the non-frantic cartoon. For those of us ancient enough to remember the old phones, the photos–any of them–are fun!

  38. Christopher Prim Says:

Yeah, go with #3 photo. Name on thumb ties in with the title. Photo image is more clever and better looking than cartoon.

  39. Barbara Cain Says:

Sadly, I don’t like any. I think the photos are unflattering-make you look old. And the cartoons don’t make me want to buy… but I am still your fan!

  40. Nikole Langjahr Says:

    Cartoon #2 or photo #2!

  41. Jennifer Says:

    Dear Greg,

FYI, I went to CCA in San Francisco and am a fellow graphic designer. In my professional opinion, you should go with Photo Cover 2. It does the best job at displaying your name in an easy-to-read, legitimate sort of way, not to mention it looks bold and strong. After all, it is your name you need to be communicating clearly and effectively. Don’t make people work too hard (having to dig around the image) to get to the nugget.
And yes, I definitely prefer the photo designs over the cartoons. They’re bolder and more colorful and fun to look at; love the contrast between the cell phone and old-school phone, very cute. Photo Cover 2 will make GREAT cover art for your next CD release. Congratulations!

    Love and Blessings,
    Jennifer

  42. Gayle Clarke Says:

Hi Greg, All of the ideas are really cute. I can definitely identify with the first one but it feels a bit frantic, actually the way I do feel in some digital realities. However, number 4 conveys both the analog and the digital very smoothly without the stress and has your picture and I like your name on your thumb. It feels good and I think it will attract more people. I like the color better than the black and white as well. Good luck with the album. I am sure it will be a great hit for you as people really need some humor to help lift them out of some of the dross that is out there.

  43. Wes Wickham Says:

    HI Greg:

I like photo one and cartoon number none.

    Wes

  44. Loretta Lines Says:

I agree with Rhea,I’m some what of an artist I like photo #1. Hope to see you in person once again.
    I love your humor.

  45. Cherie Shipley Says:

    Hi Greg,

Definitely Photo #1…..AND I have the same telephone in my kitchen (real and old). Can’t wait to hear the new CD! LOVE Grand Design!

  46. Ken Hamilton Says:

#1 outshines the others. Regardless of whose thumb it is, it has everything pertinent on the phone screen. You’re seriously disconnected from your name in #2, and identified with the anonymous thumb in #3.

The handwritten part around you on the crank phone… finestkind!

  47. Robert Trussell Says:

I vote for Cartoon No. 4. I’m a sucker for cartoons anyway, but I like the simplicity of the drawing. You artist might consider adding color to it, just so you’ll see what it looks like. But it’s my fave.

  48. Pamela Rups Says:

    Greg,

As a professional graphic designer for many years, photo cover #2 is the best design. The cartoons are cute but just don’t get your idea across as effectively as the photo series. Photo cover #2 also gets your name out where it should be and it is much easier to see than in the other two while not detracting from the design.

I give a strong vote for photo cover #2. And I can’t wait to hear the music!

  49. Brad Says:

    Photo Cover #2!!!!

I was going to email you today anyway to tell you that a member of our congregation, who left Friday afternoon to drive from Indiana to Reno, said to me, “Y’know that guy that was here that sang all those funny songs?”
    “Yes”
“Well I bought all his whole collection when he was here and I’m going to listen to them all while I drive to Reno.”

    Bless everything,
    Brad

  50. Lillie Says:

I like photo #3 the best. When I first glanced at the cartoons, I thought you had your pants down around your ankles :O. Probably another song in that lol.

  51. doug in Memphis Says:

I like the name on the guitar best, #1…. and I like cartoon #2 best. Cool!

  52. Bubble Geoff Says:

    Hi Greg~

I like photo covers 1 and 3. On 1 your name is a little harder to read because of all the background stuff so maybe it could be in bold or a slightly larger font size.

On 3 your name is easier to read because of the drop shadow and the background is basically one color. Maybe it could be a little larger font size though.

Additional thoughts…before I saw the actual photo ideas I imagined seeing your name as it would look when someone was entering it in a text message on the phone!

I also thought of further ways to illustrate the difference between analog and digital using different fonts. The font for the analog is perfect and maybe a more modern computer-like type for the words “digital world.”

Keep up the great work. I can’t wait for the new cd!

  53. Jim Healy Says:

I like Photo # 2. I agree that it places your name more prominently and that is important from a markdting perspective.

I would really like to see you book Cedar Rapids, IA again sometime. I really enjoyed your last vist.

  54. marni Says:

I like photo cover #1 best. #3 would be my second choice. I like cartoon #2, but maybe inside – not the outside cover.

  55. Linda, San Diego Says:

I like the photo w/ your name on the phone, the best. Cartoon #2 is fun, but the photo of you on the old fashioned phone appeals to me more.

  56. Beth Says:

I vote photo cover #1. It was great seeing you in Larryville!

  57. Fran Stone Says:

    photo #2 gets my vote

  58. Teena Says:

    I like #2 ……a lot

  59. Allyson Says:

As a professional graphic designer, I vote for Photo #2.

  60. John Campbell Says:

Hi Greg…………love them all…………like your music………..and I love Cover no:2 best. Looking forward to the new CD….have all your previous and they are always well received with my ACIM friends. Keep up the great work.

  61. Judy Says:

I like photo one best, cartoon #2 second best.

  62. J.D. Willett Says:

I like photo #3 the best with your name on the thumb.

  63. Kathy Says:

I like photo #1 best with the thumb pointing to your name. The cartoons are great but the photo is even more “relatable”.

  64. Cheryl Says:

Hi Greg: Number 1 just really jumped out at me! I liked that by far, because it incompasses you in this frantic little picture on the old-style phone, with your name inside that little picture, all while being manipulated by some all-seeing giant guy outside the phone. It’s nice on the thumb, but then it takes you outside of the picture which I don’t think is the intent. The middle one where the name is all pretty across the bottom is just too refined!

  65. Lois Says:

I like Photo #1. You’re much cuter as a person than a cartoon!
How’s that for an ego boost?

  66. Christine Skoranski Says:

Thumbs up for thumb pointing to your name!!!! Can’t wait for the new CD to add to my comedic relief collection. Often times, no matter how many times I hear a song, it reaches a place deep within me and catalyzes a healing. You are truly one of “Love’s” servants.

    Thank you.

  67. Rev. Kate Murphy Says:

I like Photo cover 1 with your thumb pointing to your name.
Also I think some of the folks above who said Photo #2, actually meant photo #1 – just got confused over which photo was above and which below.
Anyway, we’re looking forward to hearing the cd!

  68. Diane L. Gould Says:

    Greg,
I really like photo 1. I like the print font on the picture and it is all inclusive. The photo brings back memories of going to my Grandmothers as a kid and using her phone on the farm with the party line. The idea for the cover is great. Thanks for the opportunity to vote.

  69. Sabine Bredemeyer Says:

I propose you take the one YOU like most :o ) As always: the taste of people is sooo different :o ))

I like most the cartoon # 1 – that’s how I feel with my analog brain in the digital world and as somone said before: the cellphone looks oldfashioned. I think the photos are too full – I think a catoon fits so very good to what you told about the behaviour of the person in the studio :o )) and one of the photos could be put into the inner page of the CD …

I look forward very much to your new CD!

    Hugs
    Sabine

  70. Dan Benor Says:

Photo Cover 1 gets my vote.

i’d change “in a digital world” font to letters that look like the ones on photo scan bank format.

    Blessings, smiles and hugs,

    Dan

  71. Peter Hopkins Says:

Greg, I vote for photo #1. I like your name in the picture with the thumb pointing to it. Great idea with the old telephone. I don’t feel the panic associated with the cartoons. Have fun!

  72. Nancy Ayers Says:

#1 and #4 are my favorites I like the full-body with guitar and facial expressions are great!!

  73. Roberta St Jean Says:

Phote cover #1 with thumb pointing at your name.

Thanks for asking. Good luck with this.

  74. Salome Says:

    Greg,

Now that you have upmpteen opinions, YOU can now go back to choosing “whateva” (hawaiian pidgin) you like!!! I’ll cast my vote for Cartoon #4 and Photo #3.

  75. Jana Stanfield Says:

I like the bottom cartoon and the CD cover with your name in black letters over white at the bottom of the picture (but not ON the pic) because it stood out most there for me, and would be most easily readable for a CD buyer.

My new CD just arrived. Check out my new site at http://www.JanaStanfield.com and let me know what you think.

Best of luck with this new CD. Can’t wait for yours to come out.

    Jana

  76. Dave Bonebrake Says:

Photo #1 with your name on your thumb is my choice… I was in the graphic arts business for 12-1/2 years and like that one the best. But then again, I’ve sold insurance, peanuts, candy bars, carpet, patient guides for hospitals, Gateway Computers, and now computer training, so I wouldn’t trust my opinion at all… Good luck, Greg, and tell the family hello from the Bonebrake’s!

  77. Bill Motlong Says:

The photo cover looks great and conveys the message exceptionally well.

I like your name in either Photo 1 or Photo 3, as it catches the eye quite well in both (slight preference for Photo 1).

Good wishes for a highly successful album debut!

  78. Jim Erhart Says:

The photo is cool. Name belongs on your thumb, in your handwriting. Those cartoons just don’t do it for me… unless you had a drawing of a computer screen with the title at the top, and on the screen (below the title) is a drawing of Greg, guitar leaning up against this machine, which is a state of the art turntable atop the amp, atop one of the speakers, and he’s trying to play a CD on the turntable, asking “How do I get this to work?”

  79. Jean Eisenhower Says:

Any of the photo covers. The concept is great! Not only the old phone contrasting with the cell phone, but the “stack of images”: natural hand holding the phone, showing the photo, with you and the phone… nice ! As for where your name goes, I have a problem with the first phone photo – seems a little cluttered. In the third, the name seems a little lost. So, the second one is my favorite.

  80. Mickey D Says:

Greg, I like cartoon one because of the relationship between the panic in the cartoon character and the name of the album. Seems appropriate. However, my top vote goes to photo one. As one other person said, your thumb is actually pointing to your name in that one. Hope I win.

  81. Nancy Says:

Wow, Greg, thanks for asking our opinions! I like the one labelled Photo Cover 2 – the thumb points to your name with you on that crazy cool phone – and the cartoon 4 because you look thoughtful. And analog isn’t bad in my opinion, it’s just different, neither is digital for that matter. What matters is how things are used, what our purpose is when we use them, realizing neither is perfect, that they serve different purposes and that we will continue to use both most likely till something else comes along. I look forward to additional contagion from your crazy sense of humor!

  82. Bonnie Says:

I like cover #3 with your name on the thumb. And I like you! Your music is awesome. Best wishes on your new album.

  83. Dave Lukaszewski Says:

    I’ll vote for photo#3

  84. Julia Says:

I vote for photo #2 – I like the way your name stands out separate.

  85. Marilyn Phillis Says:

Photo cover No. 2. Clever use of past and present. As an artist No. 2 hit me the strongest. The others look a bit amateurish. Your name in bold print below the photo makes the whole thing look professional. Good Luck

  86. Amy Says:

Photo #1 – love the phone inside the phone

  87. Liz Says:

Photo #1 for all of the reasons already stated!

  88. Keasy Says:

I’d go with cartoon #1. You can’t go wrong with the photo choices, but my favorite is #1 there also.

  89. Sally Says:

I did a quick look-through and haven’t read the comments yet. The cartoons are cute, but I like photo cover 1. It’s the one that stands out to me. And no doubt who you are.

  90. Lee moran Says:

Both John and I like #1 (with you and the old phone) the best.

  91. Jerry V Says:

Photo #2. Great concept and I like your name being more pronounced below.

  92. Cissie Owen Says:

Photo Cover #3–definitely the name on the thumb. It’s just so—-you!

  93. Kate Says:

Definitely Photo cover #1…I like the placement of your name, and that it is all in the same typeface. Very clever concept. You have a terrific team! Much success, can’t wait to hear it!
    Kate Jackson

  94. Chris Johnson Says:

You’re right – Bob is great at drawing panic, but I’ve always tried to use that as a last resort. The hopefulness of Cartoon #3 was tempting, but I think I have to go with the “deer in the headlights” look of Cartoon #4 – that moment that you first realize the field trip is over and the bus has gone.
I prefer Photo Cover #1, though you might consider a little bigger or bolder font for your name, to make it stand out more. Or if you’re that serious about this analog mind thing, you could trace over it with a Sharpie!

  95. Teri Wilder Says:

I really like Photo Cover 1! Love the cartoons, but having your fabulous self there is better. I like all the printing (nicely agitated) in one area, and as someone mentioned, the Big Thumb points to your name quite nicely. Very cool stuff, Greg!!

  96. Pat Meyer-Peterson Says:

I like cartoon #4, and photo cover #1.

    Thanks for asking!! Much love,
    Pat

  97. sarah Says:

    photo #3

  98. Micki Says:

I like the picture with your name on the thumb. Can’t wait til it comes out. We miss you in Beaumont, TX

  99. patricia Says:

photo cover # 1 gets my vote. The old fashioned phone on the cell phone screen is too funny. Thumb pointing to name is clever. Go for it.

  100. Mark Rue Says:

Any of the photo series are great – I like the last one best. Thanks for asking everyone – great idea.

  101. Marcia Ellis Says:

    Photo Cover #1

Great seeing you in Lauderdale, Greg!

    Marcia

  102. Bonita Says:

Photo # 1 because your name is in the picture and the eye sees it right away.

    Cartoon 2 is nice.

Please don’t use cartoons 1 or 4–I can’t tell if those are boots or if his pants are around his ankles.

  103. Karen Lowry Says:

    Hi Greg,

First thought was photo #1, but looking back over them, I think photo #2 is a touch more professional looking, having your name larger and in a space where you can’t miss it.

Cartoons didn’t do much for me. I like seeing you on the old timey phone. Very analog, indeed.

    Thanks for asking!

  104. rufas Says:

definitely photo of you – humor is there along w/your charm – phone almost has a face on it so communication is obvious – like the white print of your name – thumb or not – but your face is important -

  105. Susan Says:

    Photo #1.
Please come back to Tacoma/Olympia, WA sometime.

  106. Shirley Says:

Photo #1. The idea of the thumb pointing to your name is very clever. I don’t like the cartoons at all, except, maybe, the last one. The first ones are an insult to your professionalism, and – they scare me, rather than make me want to buy the album.

  107. Shira Nahari Says:

Photo Cover 1 for the CD!

Cartoon Cover 3 – I agree that the others are too frantic.
    (Antics, yes — frantic, no.)

  108. Kim Power Says:

Love no 3 with your name on the thumb. Looks like you are pushing your own buttons. Appealed to my sense of humour.

  109. Paul P Says:

They are all great, Greg, each in its own way. On balance, I like the photo #3 – something about the name on the thumb puts you both inside and outside the picture, which kind of captures the essence of the meaning in the title.

  110. Bob/Nathan Maser Says:

COVER PHOTO #2 – ABSOLUTELY! NICE BALANCE!

1.-Your name IN the photo makes the photo too busy.

2.-Your name ON the thumb draws attention to the thumb.

ALSO, FOR REASONS SIMILAR TO THOSE GIVEN BY THE PEOPLE BELOW.

PAMELA RUPS, MARILYN PHILLIS, JANA STANFIELD, AND JERRY V.

  111. Jennifer Shaffer Says:

Definitely Photo #1 for the CD. You catch your name right off but it is still unobtrusive. I had to go back over 2 and 3 a couple of times to catch the name. One question, is the wallpaper really green??? lol. Great cover. Can’t wait to hear the CD.

  112. Jeanne Hubaiy Says:

Photos always draw my attention. I vote for Photo #1.
I enjoy some cartoons, but for your CD, I want to see your adorable face talking on that phone which depicts the title of your CD. Looking forward to hearing it !

  113. cliff audretch Says:

Photo – any one. Although I think my photo is more appropriate for the topic.

  114. Tessa L Says:

Hi Greg – I definitely like Photo #3 with your name on the thumb – you talking on the ancient phone (appearing to) look at the photo on your cell photo – it’s a great visual representation. The cartoons didn’t appeal to me.

  115. Susan Says:

Photo #2 or #1. Really like the juxtaposition of crank phone and cell. Don’t like the name on the thumb. Cartoons cute, but not for an album cover.

  116. Michael Sue Jenefsky Says:

Greg…I really like photo #2. I thought it was done well. I love the picture of you talking on an antique phone displayed on a cell phone. Very unique!!! So, I vote for photo #2!

  117. Laura Says:

I like the wonderfully illustrated frazzled looks on cartoons 1 and 2. I think it fits the concept and theme. No. 2. is really creative and clever, but I think for the cover, I like No. 1 with the guitar and all.

Ummmm, but the photos are great, too. My favorite of the photo covers is No. 1.

    Best wishes.

  118. Rosalind Sedacca Says:

    Hi Greg:

Love this concept. I prefer photo cover number 1.

Wishing you great success with this newest project! Can’t wait to hear it.

    Hugs,
    Roz

  119. Barbara Says:

Photo Cover #2 is my vote – like others have said, I like the juxtaposition of old phone and title concept. While the name on the thumb is clever, I’m going for your name being bold and easily read at the base of the photo.

    Thanks for asking!

Hugs a bunch for all you bring to the world!

  120. Sandy Hattan Says:

I like the photo cover ideas the best. All are good, but my eye is drawn to Photo #2 cover. Looking forward to the CD’s release!
    Blessings!

  121. Mark Tucker Says:

Hey Greg, I like #1′s of Cartoons and photo best. I will be in SF area for Feb – April let me know if you will be in the area then.
How bout that Tiger melt down. That was a classic choke plus a major benefit for the Yanks. Be well Brother, Mark

  122. margot bergman Says:

Photo one or three. I like your looks and want to see recent photos of the artist in question. good luck.
I love your dvds from spiritual conferences.
    Margot

  123. Nancy Speaker Says:

    Hi! Greg,

I would choose photo 1 because it contains all the info in one frame. My eye wandered to find your name in the other photos. Your music is who you are so I think your image relates best. All the cartoons are fun but your photo is my favorite. Thanks for asking. Nancy

  124. William McLean Witter Says:

    Hi Greg,
For cartoons, I’d go with #1 or #2. I like cover photo #1 the best. Sorry, I can’t get more excited for you, but I’ve got a nasty headache and generally achey body.
McLean Oh, Greg, check out my new e-mail address.

  125. Melinda Wood Allen Says:

Love the photos best…# 2 is my favorite, followed by #s 1 and 3 . I’m so excited to get a new Greg Tamblyn album!!!!! When are you coming to Tejas, man?

  126. Bethany Says:

I like photo 1 …made me laugh. If the name is in “analog” font it should been in the screen of the cell phone with you. If you put it outside of the analog part of the picture I would change to font to something more digital…of course you might have fun mixing the two.

Like the cartoons but not for cover… my favorite would be cartoon 2 but without the “help me”. The cartoon says it all.

    Can’t wait for the album.
    Love b

  127. curthess Says:

    Photo #1 – excellent.

  128. Diane Sisk Says:

Photo 3 made me realize that “world” was written down the right side. Had to go back to see it was there in the other photos but not noticed. I vote for photo 3 and look eagerly forward to receiving the CD when ready.

  129. Marcia Pell Says:

I like Photo #1 the best. Look forward to it!

  130. Deborah Says:

    Greg,

I love photo number one the best… I like your name being inside of the central photo of you on the old fashioned telephone.

I can hardly wait to hear your new CD.

    much love, Debs

  131. Leta Says:

    My vote is photo #1.

  132. Mara Says:

I like the first cartoon with the panic look the best… and the photo (looks the same) words on the thumb best….

  133. JANET rOSOEKRANS Says:

Greg, I like photo cover no #1 the best. The cartoon characters don’t seem quite like you. Thanks for asking
    Regards, JAnet

  134. Jack Says:

photo number 2. To my mind, the cell phone cartoons don’t show the analog/digital dilemma like the old crank phone does – excellent juxtaposition!

but should I be out-voted, cartoon #2 would be my (distant) second choice.

  135. Christine Ranck Says:

I’m still back processing this wall phone that still actually works.

#1 gets it for me. It’s hysterical, and the thumb points to your name, which is good.

  136. brad Says:

the photo! Here is my next book title. Lemme know what you think of this. lub, brad
The Korporate Kannibal, Kannibal Kook Book: Ruminations on Empire and Its Alternatives that have been Eating On Me (We Eat them or They Eat Us)
    By
Brad Blanton, Ph.D. (Author of Radical Honesty)
(A recipe book for who and how to cook Korporate Kapitalist Kannibals. My favorite chapter title is : “Lobbyist, from Soup to Nuts.”

  137. marilyn havens Says:

    HI Greg,

I like #3. Looking forward to hearing your new creation….Marilyn

  138. Lynn Says:

    Hi Greg,
I vote for photo #1 – and wish you happy trails!
    Best,
    Lynn

  139. Cyndi Swall Says:

    Hi Greggar.
Not that you need any more feedback, but I vote for the photo. Your name does show up better on the thumb. The cartoons are cute, but I didn’t laugh until I saw you on the crank phone! That’s very funny.
    Good luck, my friend.
    Hugs,
    Cyndi

  140. Daniel Says:

Cartoon 2 is my favorite idea, with photo 3 and your name on the thumb as best photo. Looking forward to completion of the project.

  141. Janet Says:

I like photo #1 the best – something about the way the thumb points at your name just fits. Can’t wait for the album!! We are still enjoying all the music we took home from your concert in Redding. Played “All These Atoms” for a guy who turned out to be a physicist – he loved it!

  142. Lynn Weitzel Says:

I vote for #1 because your name is right there by the thumb and the color stands out on the background. Also, it should be part of the video picture along with the title.
    Best wishes with the release!
    Lynn

  143. Lynda Leonard Says:

Delighted to be in your interactive network. I loved the photos best. Somehow I want you name to show up bolder in any one of the three. Not sure what that might look like, but definitely vote for a photo.

  144. Bobrie Says:

    Hey love-

Your name on the thumb—–implying you’re being smushed by the ‘thumb’ of TechnoWorld. PERFECT! This is SO you!

And you do get goofier every year.

    So – Colorado? When??

you know where you can find me.
    It’s snowing here today.
    love you,
    B

  145. Pat Norris Says:

Hi Greg, I like cover photo number 2 the best, it says it all; great symbols for analog and digital, and a substantial name at the bottom; could even be larger.

I like the last cartoon only; actively dislike the first two, which could work if the terrorists were attacking, an earthquake just occured, or a tiger was chasing you. Too negative to represent trying to negotiate in two very different worlds.

    Love ya,
    Pat

  146. Barbara Greenhouse Says:

You are a real funny guy. I don’t think any of the illustrations are funny enough. Maybe show your brain illustrated in a funny way, or a head with a peel back of your brain whimsically illustrated with digits, it’s a digital world maybe add an ipod or some other technical digital gadgets of the day as mentioned in another comment if it fits.

#3 in the photo series with type on the finger, a bolder, less whimpy font, that is not a serious font. It’s fine in the top of the photo. I just think the cover is about you & funny and these elements need to stand out with your name.

    Coming to Connecticut in 2010?

  147. Shay St. John Says:

    Greg,

I can feel the “fun” you and Rebecca had.
Personally, I like the photo cover art with the thumb pointing at your name (which I suggest be in red or bigger)

    Love you lots, Shay

  148. Kathy D Says:

    I like photo #1

  149. Carol K Says:

I’m with Teri Wilder – photo cover 1

  150. Penny Burdick Says:

I really like photo cover #3 best – the name on the thumb (digit) is a great play on words. Agree with the suggestions for bolder writing, but keep it hand written (more analog).

  151. Joyce Knott Says:

    Hi Greg,
I really like photo #1. Somehow it’s seems more together to me. Can’t wait for the new CD. Put me on the list to add to all your others. Keep up the good work.
    Love, Joyce

  152. Bill Davoust Says:

Photo #1 was my favorite. Can’t wait for the CD.

  153. Art Holt Says:

Hey Greg, The wall phone photo says it best and I agree with the name on the thumb idea. I’d just suggest that you have an error in spelling your name, X’d out and hand corrected (copy editing marks) to further show the distance between pencil editing (analog) and digital delete and replace. It might be an inside joke for copy editors, but I think most people would get it.
    Blessings,
    Art Holt

  154. Wanda Watson Says:

‘Looks like we’re all over the place on this one!

I like photo cover #1. Congrats on the new CD!
    Hugs, Wanda

  155. Carol Says:

Photo #2 is the most mysterious because your name is professionally written on the bottom as though you are serious about your image, despite the title and cover appearance that says there is definitely humor inside. By the way…being mysterious is a good thing.

  156. Steve O'Rourke Says:

I agree that the cartoons appear to make you look a little frantic, even if they are kind of cute. I like the photos better. Where the name is on any of them is fine, but I guess I like #2 the best.

Can’t wait to host you in St. Louis in January!

  157. Steve O'Rourke Says:

Whoops – I meant photo #1…must have been a blip in my analog brain…

  158. Sherree Sabelle Says:

    Hey There Greg,

Nice to hear the album is nearly ready! Can hardly wait! As far as what you’ve got going here for choices, I concur with the majority in liking photo number 3 the best.

However, for what it’s worth, I’d have liked it even better if your name would appear in LCD characters on the cell phone under the “display pic” of you on the old telephone.. Of course, the thumb would have to move down just a bit directly onto the large button as if to hit “send” to make room for your name on a “display” line. It might look, like you were ready to dial your own “destiny”……….

Come back to Colorado soon; I missed you last time!

    LaLa,

    Sherree

  159. Gregory & Rev Donna Says:

PHOTOS #’ 2 AND 3 ARE SOOOOO YOU!!! WE LOOKED THEM ALL OVER AND THESE ARE THE BEST THAT SPEAK TO THE GREG T. WE KNOW AND LOVE!!!

  160. Kennetha Says:

Photo cover 3! The thumb thing is too good to pass up!

  161. elizabeth kurata Says:

Sorry it took me so long to figure out how to get here (analog brain ha ha!).
I love foto #2. You are too cute!

  162. Mary LaFever Says:

    Photo #1 for me……..
Would take #4 cartoon over the other ones.

As the previous commenter Elizabethe said, You ARE too cute! But there is a market for that, so keep it up!

  163. Fake Name Says:

The cover you chose for the CD is GREAT, and so is the t-shirt. Did you put the writing on the front of the shirt? I couldn’t tell from the picture online. Hope I get the real thing soon!
