What Color T-shirt Do You Like?

Posted by admin under YOUR

Analog Brain In A Digital World on a t-shirt just strikes me as amusing. And I can think of lots of people (my mom, for example) who would crack up if they got one as a gift. So I’m premiering t-shirts with my CD release. But as anybody who’s seen me in person knows, I have fashion disability. So I need to know what YOU like.

Black shirt with white print? White shirt with black print? Or do you prefer a color? Red, Blue, Green, Brown, Aqua, Teal, Rust, Chartreuse, Mauve, Ecru? (What the heck is ecru? Or mauve, for that matter…) Color costs more, but if most people prefer one particular color, I don’t mind splurging for the extra expense.

Also, do you like the image on the FRONT or the BACK?

We’ll have some available for all you t-shirt fashionistas. Please let me know what you think in the comments box below. Thanks!

  1. Sharon Stewart Says:

    I like Aqua.
    I like Teal.
I like black with grey writing.
And the message on the front.
A little graphic on the left sleeve is cool, too, but adds to the cost.

Ecru is like beige but yellower.
    Mauve is greyed light maroon.

    I’m glad you’re doing shirts!
    Thanks!
    S

  2. Katherine Says:

If you’re going for the cheapest….black shirt/white lettering. i did black shirt with red lettering…looked good.

Be subtle with the message on front.

Given I have way too many tee shirts as it is. something different like 3/4 length sleeve or long sleeve might me more attractive.

  3. Nancy Says:

    Robins Egg Blue
    Or
    Baby Powder Blue

I feel these colors are good for both men and women

  4. Anne Centers Says:

To keep it inexpensive, I’d go with white with black lettering on the back of the shirts.

What a great idea to tour with a group of people. I’d love to do this - be on a tour, but also give a tour (I always wanted to be a tour guide). How has this worked out for you in the past? Where do you go?

I used to live in Palm City and Gainesville. I see you will be performing there.

You are clever with your words and melodies. You are like a John Denver funny spiritual guy.

I saw you in Boca a couple months ago. Haven’t been back since. Normally, I am visiting my daughter an hour south and playing with my first grandchild.

    Good luck.

I’m going to see Caroline Myss who will be giving a lecture at FAU in March.

    Anne

  5. Paul Scott Says:

    white shirt
    black lettering
larger on back Analog in bold-digital in bold
small on front over left pocket

  6. Sally Miller Says:

I think you can’t go wrong with basic black with white lettering. People’s color choices are personal and will be all over the place. (like, right now, I’m going through an orange period, but wouldn’t want everyone wearing it.)

I agree with Katherine that the message be kept subtle. Perhaps pocket-sized in the space in left front where a pocket would be. And your name could be on the sleeve, or maybe in the same smaller typeface dropped down and separated beneath the artwork.

  7. Carol Says:

I need color!!! Anything other than black and white…although I’ll buy it anyway if it’s awesome!!!

  8. Bob/Nathan Maser Says:

I like colors, but if you ask ten people……… you will get ten different colors!

In keeping with the ‘computer theme’ - ‘analog/digital’ as well as the

‘cheap/simple theme’, the obvious answer is a

WHITE T-SHIRT WITH BLACK LETTERS -

like on the computer or on writing paper -

maybe different fonts for front and back.

  9. Donna Says:

I never wear black, sorry just too depressing . White or light gray t-shirt with black printing on front sounds good for me.

  10. Randy Says:

    Greg,

White is so generic (perhaps a little too “cheap” and black is for Harley Davidson and TSO concerts - LOL.

Color is good - most any color or shade (blue, green or whatever).

Also, a small graphic over the front left pocket area is good, with a larger picture on the back definitely is good.

Perhaps try using OCR font for effect…

    Just my 2 cents.

Looking forward to seeing you on 11/22!

    Thanks - and good luck.

  11. KK Says:

I think a pretty purple is nice for the ladies. But if color is not feasible, then white with RED letters would be nice. Or even black with YELLOW letters would be cool. Like a real sign type when you’re reading the shirt.

    Just a thought…. MMMMMMMMMMMMMM…..

  12. Lori Says:

white on black, logo on back and a pocket emblem of some sort GT?!

  13. Kit T. Says:

White T-shirt, black lettering, front logo. If in color, green or purple. Thank you for the opportunity to express my preferences. Kit T.

  14. Alison Says:

    Greg,
Personally, I never wear white t-shirts, they get dirty too easily and make me look pasty. Sadly, this is the most popular color. I love black, but not everyone is into such a rock-n-roll color. I have to say I adore colored t-shirts and am sorry to say they are hard to come by. I try never to wear pastells. I tend to be drawn to the dark earthy colors like olive, teal, rust, and the ever yummy plum. Oh, and you’ll never see me turn down a purple t-shirt.

But, the biggest problem I have is that I have–oh–about 50 t-shirts already.

I need long sleeve t-shirts. It’s chilly most of the year, anyway, so the t-shirts I own are rarely on my outisde layer. Have you considered long sleeve?

Anyone else interested in long sleeve t-shirts?

  15. Carol K Says:

    Greg -
I like black with white lettering. I like shirts that have a small logo on the front & bigger message on the back. I like long the long sleeve idea too. I also like to have an option for a more feminine cut (remember, women do more than half the purchasing decisions!), even if it’s just something simple like having a v-neck option. (We purchased shirts for our biz awhile back and there are lots of alternatives out there.)

  16. Regina Lancaster Says:

Greg, I agree with Shareon that Aqua or Teal looks great on anyone and they happen to be my favorite colors but if you want to be more mainstream, Randy had the right idea of Blue or Green….quite frankly, I am surprised that you didn’t get GREEN from everyone because it is so politically correct to “go green” this year in saving the planet!

If you find yourself having to “go cheap” then better to go with the white with black writing so we who do not live in a black and white world can dye them the color we want. Like Bob and Nathan said, ask 10 people…. I just don’t see you doing things ordinary.

If you must chose only one color, instead of several to choose from, go with GREEN…everyone looks good in green and it goes with most everything…and Christmas is coming up….. You are not ordinary…why should your t-shirt be ordinary black and white?

As for the message, put it on the front if you want it to be a conversation starter (my preference) or on the back if you just want to give a smile to those when the oportunity to talk has passed you by….

Wishing you an easy decision and blessings!
    Regina

  17. Mary Says:

I worked in a t-shirt booth last summer at a Solstice Parade…I was one of the few that was wearing a T-shirt, ironically, the color of your webpage wallpaper.. out of all the colors available..people, both men and women, wanted my teal (or whatever this color is).

  18. Regina Lancaster Says:

Greg, sorry about the typo’s in previous reply but have flu and didn’t proof before sending… Oopss

  19. Steven Fahrion Says:

I’d like white letters on black, on the front. Thanks for asking! Steven

  20. Jack Says:

Black is slimming!!!! However, pink is really in this year and only “real men” can wear pink.

White letters on black or black letters on pink.
In the front please. I wear my handicap proudly!

  21. Constance Brooks Says:

I agree with the grey on black and on the front.

  22. Ellen Swanson Says:

As a woman I get tired of people staring at my chest. I guess some women really like that, but the message is harder to read over all those hills and valleys, so I would say it would get more MESSAGE attention and be more clear if it was on the back. If you want chest attention to distract, put it on the front. Or you could make some with front and some with back.

  23. Norb Says:

I do a lot of Ts and love any deep color (blacks, dark blue, red, etc.). I no longer buy grays or whites.

I like the idea of subtle message on front and bolder message on back.

  24. Tracy Says:

Everything Carol K. said! Theme of shirt deserves B&W. Personally, I like the W letters on B since I have kids & am a little messy. The option of a more feminine cut and/or 3/4 or long sleeves is also very appealing. The small font front/pocket + the large across the back seems a nice option. Yes, we want it all.

  25. Kennetha Says:

Not white. I tend to look like “Moby Dick” in white. Black or grey would be nice. I do like the 3/4 length sleeve idea.

  26. Heidi Marcinik Says:

    Greg,

I digg the majority of the t-shirt colors that Life Is Good sells - both male and female colors.

As for decoration, if it’s a big design, I prefer it on the back, with a teaser message on the front.

  27. Jean Says:

    I like a black t shirt w/ white lettering.
more room on the back for the message (especially if one has big boobs :) ), but I like something on the front to stimulate one’s curiosity when they walk up to me. They look at my t shirt and they think “I wonder what it says on the back?”
not sure what that would be but….

  28. Kate Says:

I like black with white lettering, on the front. Although, if you’re going with color, navy blue is always classy.

  29. Ruth Says:

Yes, aren’t we all over the charts re:color! Why not have 2 choices… black with light grey printing… AND this teal… with black printing.. I’d like it in long sleeve for sun protection and great on cool days!! …and the writing on the front.! (I like seeing people’s reaction.)

  30. Bev Says:

Purple is the fashion color this year but I say PINK! Pink for sure for all us “girly girls”.

  31. Diane Says:

    White on black is good!

  32. Dorethy Says:

Colors!! Give me colors! Green, purple, blue, red, whatever–black and white leave me cold. But I LOVE your idea! Also would love to go on the Italy trip, but I was there last year and couldn’t justify the expense of going again. I have wanted to host a tour to Yorkshire, England–only about a dozen people, because you can’t get buses into these sweet quaint little places that I dearly love there. In Italy, may I suggest the Amalfi Coast or La Cinque Terra–or, naturally, Florence! I just love you and the wonderful mission of humor and music you are on! Bless you, “home boy” (I’m from Topeka)

  33. Terri & Melanie Says:

Well Greg, we LOOOVe any shade of purple, but second choice would be black. (Although, if it’s white we could color it ourselves….hmmm…..)

Good luck making your decision. It’ll be worse than herding cats!

Oh, and by the way, We are more interested in larger sizes than color…

  34. Fran Stone Says:

    Hey Greg….

    White on Black…image on Front.
Don’t forget your “full figured” friends. XXL would be nice.

    xoxox
    Fran

  35. Lee Says:

Black with white letters (so I can keep it clean and wear it more than once) with picture on the back. Long sleeves would be preferred but short is also fine.

  36. Dave Lukaszewski Says:

I’d go for a black shirt with large white graphics on the back…and, possibly, some small white graphics on the front, too.

    When’s your CD coming out?

  37. Andrea Says:

I’d go with white print on a black shirt with the graphics on the front!

  38. Carolyn Amundson Says:

Light blue T-shirt with black printing on the back.

  39. Christy Says:

    Hey,
Lots of opinions… now you know how I feel everyday with my decisions!!
Hmmm… Here is my question… the art work going to be the one with the photo in color or a black and white sketch.. makes a big difference….

  40. Me Says:

Dark colored shirt with white lettering (so I don’t have to wear a bra!) (Plus it stays clean longer).
Message on the front - I want to be able to see it when I look in the mirror!

  41. Lesley Schaffer Says:

I agree with the color voters - green or blue would be great - put the image on the front.

  42. Micki Says:

I agree with the white shirt and black lettering like a computer with the large logo on the back and a small logo over front pocket.

  43. Bobbie Says:

My company sold t-shirts for a year or so; the black were far more popular than the white, even though they cost more. We sold more L and XL than S or M. (Do not go there!)

For me, white t-shirts attract dark stains and do not stay white very long. Black t-shirts, of course, attract white lint and tan dog fur. I’m gonna be a mess no matter what. I prefer the lettering on the front so I can see it.

  44. Martha Davis Says:

More imortant than the color is a scoop neck. It just plain looks better on a woman.

  45. Karen Says:

    Hi Greg,

I love black tees with white lettering on the back, unless it’s art, which looks good on front. Some folks prefer to purchase dark blue when black is too…black, I guess. White looks cheap. Probably because it’s cheap.

I’ve sold lots of XL’s in dark colors, mostly black, printed on front.

  46. Shirley Maclean Says:

I personally prefer white with black lettering on the back. A small logo or other small graphic is ok on the front left chest area but otherwise prefer the front “uncluttered”

  47. Connie Says:

I think Black tee with white or any color lettering

  48. Toogie Says:

    Hi Greg,
I liked someone’s idea of green because it’s my favorite color. But purple and teal are good. If you do decide to go with black/white, black shirt with white letters.
    Hope that helps
    Toogie

  49. sarah Says:

black shirt with white letters on back (analog)
front only says “digital “with an X through it.
Its a digital question for me . Just want to get the shirt.
Fall fell into place in Central Park, NY now back in the Tucson desert where you can hear a pin drop.
    cheers, Sarah

  50. Kim Says:

Black with writing on the front. My personal preference is hot pink but teal is also good.
Weather is sweltering in Melbourne. Over 35C for a week. Cheers, Kim

  51. Patty Says:

heather gray or pink. Also, please include larger sizes like 3x and 4x

  52. Lynn Turner Says:

Hi, Love the title -I like colors -any blue or green, but if it’s black or white, prefer black -words on the back -more impact for the words. Keep on truckin….Lynn

  53. jyoit jennings Says:

purple/magenta would suit a funny man with spirit best (but if you must be like everyone else black) with pic on BACK definitely

  54. Jody Says:

If it’s the cartoon, black shirt with white writing. Writing on front - drawing on back. More $ both sides. How about a ladies cut? If the photo - white with color shot - on the front! And I love teal. Enjoy Italy - I’m waiting for Africa!! jody

  55. JANE TINKER Says:

I would like a white one with lettering on the front.

  56. Janet Says:

Forest green (just to be different), brown, or bright purple for fun. On the front so I can read my own shirt, too.

  57. Amy Carr Says:

I prefer long-sleeve or tank tops. Rarely would anything compel me to buy a tee. It would have to be an interesting color - like purple or red or turquoise. It would be cool if is was subtle small lettering on front - if there is a bigger graphic put it on the back.

  58. Amy Carr Says:

What would be cool is to take your top favorite illustrations of an analog brain in a digital world - the ones you got on your blog - and just list them on the back of the shirt ! That way we’d be wearing a collective humor project that would spread the laughter all around - even though I loathe tees, I would probably buy one - especially if it was NOT boring white !!

  59. Amy Carr Says:

(oop, by the way I meant illustrations in the literary sense - I envision just a buch of text)

  60. marian phillips vail Says:

I love red with black lettering with the logo-message on the front. But I will concur with whatever grabs the most people. Perhaps the name of CD or songs suggest a color???

  61. Beck Gentry Says:

I like white on black with the stuff on the back, that way I can wear it to work under a jacket, still make the “dress code” and still laugh uproariously!!

  62. Pam Says:

    Hi Greg,

How great you’re creating T shirts for your adoring fans! I get tired of white shirts, but love the idea of a teal one. It’s a color that flatters most everyone, plus reminds me of blue Hawaiian waters. Would be relaxing for people stressed by being “analog in in a digital world”. >:-O

    Aloha,
    Pam

  63. Halina Handsaker Says:

Hey Greg: I recommend staying away from white - looks like an undershirt. Black is definitely better. But I think your best bet would be to go with a soft color. But whatever you decide, you can be sure I’ll buy a few for my aging analog-brained friends. Better hurry, Christmas is just around the corner! And let us know when/where we can purchase! XOXO

  64. Stephanie Says:

I like good old white…and saying on the back!!
